I joined the VA about 20 years ago. The first 9 years the hospital had personnel problems that I noticed. Some workers treated patients with disrespect and appeared to have an attitude problem. This has changed. For the past few years I have noticed a drastic change in personnel. They are more friendly and appear to really care about the patients. All the doctors I have seen in 20 years have been caring and seem to actually enjoy helping you. The VA in my opinion is Great !

We always have a great experience here but tonight was amazing. This morning we went somewhere else where my husband was yelled at, gaslit, and abandoned by the Doctor all because he told her she did not need to shout. I’m so glad I forced him to go to the VA hospital despite it being 2 hours away, because we got all the answers we needed and more. My husband had Dr. Z in the ER and he was nothing short of phenomenal! He said he was going to be there until he found answers and he did just that. He ran every test he could and made every referral he needed to, and actually gave us answers rather than just pushing pills, and I have the UTMOST respect for that! This man genuinely deserves a raise and I wish every Doctor would have his morals, values, and compassion. He truly cares about his patients. Couldn’t be happier with this experience! Thank you Dr. Z!!! 🙏🏼 Truly an angel sent from above!

Was there with the VFW to visit and serve lunch to a group of disabled veterans. The staff there is very supportive to the vets there and us as well. The hospital was very clean and well kept. A big god bless you to the staff here

Thanks for your loving care during my brother’s stay with you. All the doctors, nurses and employees that contributed to his care . Special thanks to Doctor Lin, Dr. Slusher, Dr. Goetz, and all the social workers .

TheVA has improved dramatically over the years. If you consider the Care that most Americans get ,the VA is stellar. Of course there is always room for improvement but don’t knock it or you might come to regret it. Thank you to all the VA staff for the service to Americas veterans.

I have been receiving healthcare at this hospital for the past 6 years since retiring in NOVA. What stands out the most is the friendliness of the professional staff, from the moment I walk in from the parking garage to the comfortable pass- by exchanges from my fellow vets. There is an overall camaraderie that feels genuine & secure. I am consistently impressed by my VA physician; Dr. Harold Lawson’s dedication, exceptional talent and deep medical expertise. Our appointments are far more than routine check-ups; they’re engaging and intellectually stimulating discussions where we thoroughly explore my health & the world of natural supplements. I truly value his and his wonderful staff nurse’s ability to communicate complex information clearly and their openness to my questions, making our conversations feel like a partnership in managing my well- being. Thank you to you both! I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the friendly staff at the front desk at the Red Clinic- who always seem to make me laugh with some upbeat remark making a stressful situation comfortable. It is the friendly, compassionate and overall positive attitude that better improve our lives as Vets. Thank you for what you do each and every day.

This is 5 star hospital in Richmond, nice to see the government taking care of us every single one over here is high speed very patient with us ,understanding staff ,high speed service 10/10

Tried a new vendor today, Rachel Wood Freeze Dried Goods and her Products are amazing. I am addicted to her strawberry shortcake ice cream bars. She is local to Richmond/ chesterfield area and can be found at the VA Hospital weekly.

So I was admitted with a skin infection that could have worsened over the next few days. They gave me liquid antibodies and it cleared up in 3 days. About a month later, my partner had a mild stroke and was admitted to one of the three big hospitals in the area. They treated her for 3 days and released her. During that time I could do a direct comparison between the VA facility and another “respectable hospital”. The results were that the VA hospital was more detailed, more attentive and overall a dramatically better experience than the “nationally recognized chain” hospital. Overall I’d give the VA a 5 star review and the public hospital a 3 star. I hope your experiences with the Richmond VA Facility are as professional and pleasant as were mine!
